Turbine management corrections: Since the Ex Place turbine was erected in 2002, volunteer technical staff at WindShare, along with our project partners at Toronto Hydro, has operated and serviced the turbine in a safe and professional level. At no time was the turbine under insufficient management. Through time and experience, capacity at WindShare to manage has improved, fulfilling the co-ops goal to build local capacity for managing renewable energy projects. Roberta Langtry was a WindShare member who would often call the Co-op to check in on projects and developments. Upon her death last year, she gave what is believed to be the largest donation from an individual to an environmental cause in Canada: $4.3 million to the Nature Conservancy of Canada. Miss Langtry's legacy is being feted by the conservancy, which plans to use the money to buy more wetlands and help safeguard the Oak Ridges Moraine, a pastoral rural area north of Toronto that Miss Langtry held dear and is the subject of large-scale conservation efforts in the province.
